Frequently Asked Questions
-
Functional nutrition is a branch of functional medicine that takes a holistic, and personalized approach to optimizing one's nutritive choices to uncover the root cause of illness, reverse chronic disease, and restore health & vitality.
-
As a Functional nutrition practitioner, I draw upon my comprehensive education from the Functional Nutrition Alliance.
We aim to address the root causes, by using a whole person approach and we work in therapeutic partnership with all members on your wellness team.
I do not diagnose , treat, prescribe or heal
I do access , recommend and track =repeat

As a a Functional Nutrition Practitioner , I cannot order labs for you.
However, if appropriate, I may recommend specific lab work that can be ordered through your licensed physician. Most labs, such as a CBC, can actually be ordered without a physician referral. Companies like www.directlabs.com allow direct purchase, but you can also call your local Quest Labs, etc.

Nutritional supplements will be recommended as part of your personalized plan to provide deeper, more targeted support and replenishment and help to bridge gaps in the healing process. Especially due to our modern lifestyles- chronic stress, toxin exposure, nutrient-poor soil and more- and how common nutrient deficiencies and mineral imbalances are, I am very pro-supplementation. Plus they can help us make bigger changes in a shorter time period.
I do prefer using food-based and herbal supplements in my practice to provide what the body can utilize best and only suggest the highest quality brands (many that are only available through a practitioner).
I also prioritize your body's specific needs, healing priorities, and symptoms and aim to keep supplements as simple as possible (including helping you audit any you're currently taking).
Supplements are never required, but expectations need to be adjusted accordingly. Rebalancing the body can take more time and diet and other habits will need to be more robust and specific

The frequency of our visits is individual and depends upon your current nutrition status and goals. It is common to meet more frequently in the beginning to build momentum and then less frequently as time goes by.
Most clients see us every 1-3 weeks initially. Nutrition counseling provides the support you need to keep on track with your goals and gradually adopt meaningful, sustainable change.
